We are in town for a Graduation.  Staying at the Omni Hotel.

I felt bad to read of the low reviews posted for Trevi's

After a full day of traveling since 3am from California,,  we did not want to explore around to find a place for dinner.  The recommended Tobacco Restaurant across the street was closed due to fire.

We came to Trevi's and were welcomed warmly.  The waitress commented that she could not accommodate our group of 5 inside, so we were seated in the atrium portion of the building.  A different outdoors type of experience but it was still air conditioned from the humid heat of the weekend.

Our wait staff were very attentive, our water glasses were always filled.  Our group ordered various pasta items.  No complaints.  I had a bowl of the minestrone soup.  Nicely done.  Vegetables were slightly crisp, not overdone, with a little bit of spice.  It went nicely with the warm bread and whipped butter brought to our table.

Our group commented that we all felt bad for the  low ratings other Yelpers had given Trevi's.

Our experience was satisfactory and we hope to dine here again sometime over the weekend.

So I found Trevi's in Richmond. It's a Tuesday so wasn't expecting a crowd. I was 1 of 4 people in there. But again, Tuesday. The bartender was nice and he asked me what I wanted to drink. Wine of course. Small problem: my first wine request was out of stock. No worries, I'll have my second choice. Nope. Didn't have that either. He told me they were "revamping" the wine menu. My third option they had! When it came out there was soap scum floating on top. Trevi's tip: if you drink enough of the soap scum wine you'll be blowing bubbles like you're in a willie wonka movie. Which could be cool.

I actually ordered dinner. Honestly, as a joke. I knew it would be crap. That expectation was met.

Chicken parm came out. Couple of observations; the chicken was clearly previously frozen. Chainsaw needed. The "angel hair" pasta that came with was more like the devil's beard. Was that marinara on the pasta? I will never know. My guess would be somewhere between bad bbq sauce and ketchup.

Revamping your wine menu, huh? Try bulldozing the whole place down.

Travel tip: anytime someone uses "chainsaw" and "bulldozing" when referring to food. Move on.

Wow. Just wanted to have a couple beers at my hotel bar after checking in. The two bartenders had no idea what they were doing. They were both stocking wine when I arrived when 10+ people were waiting to order something. My one draft beer I got after sitting there for 10 minutes was ice cold though.

The place looks like your buddy's basement bar with zero decorations. Asked for my check instead of another beer because of the long wait. Didn't see a bartender for another 10 minutes so I just left and went to my room. I called the front desk and told them to put a draft beer on my room. Food looked awful too. 1 Star is generous.

Trevi's is one of the fast-casual lunch options for workers downtown and hotel guests. It's in the Omni Hotel and it's so small that you could easily miss it if not for the lunch line wrapped around.

I chose it over its neighbor Arby's a couple weeks ago. The line was fairly long but didn't take too long. Since it was my first visit, I wanted to try both a salad and a sandwich. I figured one could be lunch and the other dinner. When it was my turn to order, I selected the club sandwich and then built my own salad.

When I got to the check out, I paid and then realized the total seemed low, so I asked about the sandwich and they had forgotten about it, so I ran my card again and waited. It took a little too long to come out, but the sandwich was quite good.

I won't say the salad was life altering, but the ingredients were fresh and generous. I'd probably stick to salads in the future to save time on my lunch break.

Can't get a drink. The bar is dead. The bartender doesn't care. Very sad as we expect more from Omni. Jason sucks.
